Getting Started with Qylina Vox
Unlike typical yoga studios, we've designed our approach specifically for stress relief, blending traditional yoga with modern techniques. Each program starts with a personal assessment to identify your unique stress triggers, then creates a customized path forward. I've seen firsthand how this personalized touch helps people who've tried and given up on other yoga programs. Plus, our Malaysian roots bring a special cultural dimension that many students find enriching and grounding.
Not at all! Our programs welcome complete beginners — in fact, many of our most dedicated practitioners started with zero experience. We begin with simple, accessible moves and gradually build your confidence and abilities. The focus is on how you feel, not how you look doing the poses. Some of our best student transformations came from those who'd never touched a yoga mat before walking through our doors.
Comfort is key! Wear breathable, stretchy clothes you can move in freely. A t-shirt and leggings or shorts work perfectly — nothing fancy needed. While we provide mats for new students, you're welcome to bring your own if you have one. A water bottle is always a good idea, and maybe a small towel. And don't worry about special yoga gear or accessories — I started my practice using a beach towel instead of a mat, so we're all about making do with what you have!
Think of yoga for stress relief like watering a plant — consistency matters more than duration. Even 10-15 minutes daily will bring better results than a single weekly 90-minute session. That said, we generally recommend 2-3 sessions per week to start. Many students tell me they notice subtle changes after just two weeks — better sleep or fewer tension headaches — while deeper transformations in how you handle stress might take 6-8 weeks to fully bloom. Remember, this is your journey and there's no right timeline.
Program Details
We blend several styles to create the most effective stress-relief experience. Our foundation includes gentle Hatha yoga for beginners, calming Yin yoga for deep relaxation, and elements of restorative yoga to release tension. As you progress, we might incorporate some flowing Vinyasa sequences to help you connect movement with breath. What makes our approach special is how we adapt these traditions to address modern stress patterns — like specific sequences for desk workers or anxiety management techniques that complement the physical practice.
Absolutely! We pride ourselves on making yoga accessible to everyone. During your initial consultation, we'll discuss any limitations or concerns, then adapt practices accordingly. Many of our poses can be modified using props like blocks, straps, or chairs. A student of mine with chronic back pain once thought yoga was impossible for her — now it's her primary pain management tool. That said, if you have serious medical conditions, please check with your doctor first, and always listen to your body during practice.
We offer both! Our Johor Bahru studio hosts regular in-person classes, but we've developed a robust online program too. Live-streamed sessions give you real-time guidance, while our on-demand library lets you practice whenever fits your schedule. Some students like mixing both — perhaps attending the studio once weekly and supplementing with online sessions. During the pandemic, we actually discovered that some people respond better to virtual classes, feeling less self-conscious in their home environment. Either way, you'll receive the same level of attention and care.
Our core stress-relief program runs for 8 weeks, which research suggests is the optimal time to establish new habits and see meaningful results. Individual sessions typically last 60 minutes, though we offer some 30-minute express classes for busy days and 90-minute deep-dive sessions for weekends. Beyond the core program, many students continue with our ongoing classes or seasonal workshops. I find the 8-week structure provides a good balance — long enough to create lasting change but short enough to stay motivated throughout.
Practical Information
We offer flexible options to suit different needs and budgets. New students can try a single session for RM65 or our two-week starter package (4 classes) for RM220. Our 8-week structured program costs RM850 and includes a personal assessment, 16 guided sessions, and supplemental materials. Monthly memberships start at RM320 for 8 classes. We also have a community class every Sunday morning at a reduced rate (RM35) and scholarship programs for those facing financial hardship — just reach out to discuss your situation.
Our main studio is located at ARC Residence Block A#33, 20, Jalan Sagu 36, Taman Daya, 81100 Johor Bahru, Johor, Malaysia. We're open Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 8:30 PM, Saturdays from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and Sundays from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. The morning weekday classes (7:00-8:00 AM) are particularly popular with professionals who practice before work — I'm always impressed by their commitment! If you're planning your first visit, we recommend arriving 15 minutes early to get settled.
Life happens! We understand that plans change. For individual sessions, we ask for 12 hours' notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Late cancellations or no-shows will be charged, though we do offer one courtesy pass per month for unexpected emergencies. For our 8-week program participants, missed sessions can be made up within the program period or converted to online session credits. If you need to withdraw from a program entirely, refunds are available (minus a small administrative fee) up to 7 days before the start date.
Yes, and they've become one of our specialties! We create customized workplace wellness programs focused on stress management and employee wellbeing. These can range from one-time workshops to ongoing weekly sessions at your office or our studio. Our corporate clients report improved team morale, decreased absenteeism, and better productivity. We've worked with companies of all sizes, from local startups to multinational corporations. Each program begins with understanding your specific workplace challenges and organizational culture.
